[PyLadies Book Club]
PyLadies Seoul is the Seoul chapter of an international mentorship group dedicated to helping more women become active participants and leaders in the Python community. Every first Wednesday evening of the month, the PyLadies Book Club meets to read a selected book, share insights, and enjoy casual networking.

[June Book Club - Let’s Read “The Future that Arrived First” Together]
Lately, while using various AI tools, have you ever thought, "Wow, life has become so much easier," but then suddenly felt a lingering sense of anxiety, wondering, "What if all my current efforts become meaningless in the future?" or "Is my job really safe?"*
The book we will be reading this June is The Future that Arrived First (먼저 온 미래)***, a reportage by author Chang Kang-myoung. Without relying on grandiose Terminator-like sci-fi tropes, this book uses the real-world case of the Go (Baduk) community to coldly and vividly show how AI shakes human authority and pride, and how it threatens the values we have long pursued.
As we live in an increasingly perfect AI-driven world, we want to openly share our honest anxieties. We selected this book for June to comfortably discuss with our members how we can protect our unique human values and career identities in the face of a future that has arrived far too quickly.

[This club is highly recommended for those who:]

• Feel a sudden, vague sense of anxiety watching the rapid pace of AI advancement.
• Have wondered about the true meaning of "human work and effort" in an era where machines deliver all the answers.
• Are curious about how other peers are facing and preparing for this prematurely arrived AI era.

[Don't worry about the pressure!]
It is perfectly fine if you haven't finished reading the entire book. To join the conversation, you just need to bring a few of your own thoughts on the following:

• A moment recently when you felt most amazed—or conversely, most anxious—while using AI.
• A sentence or an idea from the book that resonated with you the most.
• Your own "human weapon" that you believe can never be replaced, even by a perfect machine.
